Behold! My current Lush collection – and it’s still growing…!

In all seriousness, I would own every product if I could. But I’m currently a backpacker Down Under and I have limited space…Darn.

And as I’ve grabbed a wonderful Christmas temp job at a Lush Digital Factory until the end of January, it seems that it is indeed possible to stock up as many products as I possibly can! (Thanks to the wonderful staff discount…!)

So! From Lush fan to Lush worker, I feel I need to share with you my latest bulk, including some Christmas treats!

All products placed on one of my lovely vintage knot wraps that I typically wear in my hair! Like most Lush folk seem to do…

SNOW ANGEL BATH MELT: I purchased this heavenly glittery angel last year during the Christmas period, and I’m so glad it’s back! I am a complete sucker for this beauty, as well as Snowcake Soap, which has the same fragrance.

IMG_4145
LUSH SAYS: “This moisturising bath melt dissolves into a flurry of snow, blanketing the bath in white foam before revealing a shimmering golden glow. Rich in hydrating cocoa butter and blend of rose, benzoin and cassie absolute, this has a comforting light floral and delicate marzipan scent.” (Basically it’s the equivalent of getting a Battenburg cake and smearing it all over yourself..)

The minute I inhaled this gorgeous scent, I knew I was in for a real treat. I also love how you get a 2 for 1 with this product, as it is part Luxury Bath Melt and part Bath Bomb. The top half creates a blanket of white snow as it settles in the water, and the bottom half surrounds you with golden glitter to let your bath time sparkle!

I instantly thought ‘marzipan’ when the Angel was melting my troubles away. I have always been a huge fan of Battenberg cake and just marzipan in general – therefore it gave me a sense of nostalgia and instant contentment. I also wanted to eat cake in the tub.

Once I stepped out, my body felt moisturised but not greasy. I simply wrapped myself in a towel and lay on my bed for a while, just to let the aroma seep in my skin for as long as possible. Benzoin Resinoid is great for soothing and moisturising dry skin. I wasn’t covered in glitter which was a bonus as that’s what I was worried about. It was easy to rinse away too.

BIG SEA SALT SHAMPOO: This is also one of my repeat purchases. I’ve probably used this product for five years now. I don’t care how pricey it is, as it lasts for ages!
IMG_0259
LUSH SAYS: “A volumising shampoo made with seaweed and sea salt. While the salt lifts the hair and adds body, it also manages and softens the hair alongside extra virgin coconut oil and protein-rich toothed wrack seaweed. Lemon and lime allow the hair to shine as they allow the cuticles on your hair to lie flat, meaning they reflect more light. Use a small amount on wet hair and work it in well to build lather.”

This stuff is so awesome… The shampoo is named Big as it’s supposed to give volume to naturally thin, limp hair. My hair is basically candy floss and it’s so difficult to volumise without the use of backcombing and hairspray, so I knew I needed this in my life.
I cannot say whether or not it fully does the job, as I tend to use the double strength American Cream Conditioner afterwards for my frizzy split ends, which gives my hair a bit of weight. However, I can still say is that this shampoo gives my hair a lightweight, lovely bounce. My hair is shiny, soft and thoroughly nourished.

Although the main ingredient is coarse sea salt which made me worry about my hair drying out, it actually lathers up surprisingly well in your hair – and I could feel it softening and volumising my locks.

The cleansing citrus fruits let the shine come through, and even after using lots of conditioner (as I need it for my dry ends), the volume stays put and adds a good thickness to my hair.
It is also good exfoliation for your scalp (great for dandruff), and the smell is divine and naturally fresh. A generous amount is not needed therefore this product wont go quick.

TEA TREE TONER WATER: Noticeably cleaner face in an instant!
IMG_0262

LUSH SAYS:
“Keep skin clear and refreshed. Tea tree is antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial, so can help keep away the bacteria that can cause spots. Grapefruit is rich in vitamins and is also lightly astringent on the skin, whilst juniper berry is antiseptic and helps keep skin clean and clear. Use any time of day to keep skin refreshed, or to remove traces of makeup or cleanser.”

I swear by this stuff – it is indeed a skin saviour and it’s quick and easy to use!

Tea tree is extremely soothing and works wonders on my troubled skin. My face is all sorts of uneven and is prone to breakouts from the results of stress, make up and lack of sleep.

This is a mild antiseptic spray with natural oils, therefore it helps heal the skin quicker. With this toner, all you require is a cotton wool pad, a few sprays all over the face, (don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt your eyes), wipe it all away and voila! Squeaky clean face!

You will notice the cleanliness of your skin when you take a look at the used cotton wool… You will be shocked to see how much dirt there is, even after washing and exfoliating! If dirt is still visible, feel free to use as many cotton wool pads as you wish until there are no signs of grubbiness.

ROSE JAM SHOWER GEL: Leaves your body and the entire shower smelling like jammy cake filling!

IMG_0257

LUSH SAYS: “Let your skin be kissed by a rose with this sweetly floral shower gel. Wrap yourself in a comforting embrace with nourishing Moroccan argan oil, organic rose absolute and rose oil together with a Fair Trade vanilla pod infusion. This is an indulgent wash that lifts the spirits.”

At first I wasn’t really fussed about purchasing Rose Jam, as I don’t really like the smell of rose products, until I opened the bottle and inhaled this heavenly scent!
It’s a surprisingly comforting and sweet infusion that I just became addicted to! Thanks to the vitamin rich argan oil and vanilla pod additions, this shower gel becomes a victoria sponge cake filling in a bottle, with the subtle floral hint of roses.

Usually floral products can be overpowering and not my cup of tea, but this one is a warming, feel good fragrance that can be enjoyed at any time of year.

What makes this shower gel even more awesome is that, despite it’s gentle scent, the wonderful sweet fragrance permeates your skin and stays with you for hours afterwards. I love it when the scents linger, as I can casually smell my skin, (normally my arm – I would look weird sniffing my leg), and continue enjoying the product throughout the day.

They need to keep this as an all year rounder, instead of making it a limited edition! It’s one of my unexpected favourites so please keep it going!

LORD OF MISRULE SHOWER SCREAM: A mystical guilty pleasure…
lord of misrule

LUSH SAYS: “A feast for the senses! Get down and earthy with this mischievous, herbal blend of patchouli, peppercorn and black pepper with an intriguing Fair Trade vanilla sweetness. As you rub this addictive lather all over the body, organic wheatgerm oil provides a nourishing dose of Vitamin E to ensure your skin is on fine (and fragrant) party form. You won’t be the fool after washing with this.”

This shower ‘scream’ fills the shower with a mischievous herbal, earthy scent. It really does open up the senses and I just love the shimmery green colour!
This product is one that I have gone MAD for! It stands out from all other shower gels because of it’s striking appearance and unique and unusual scent. I was immediately intrigued by the ingredients and the name of it!

The combination of patchouli and black pepper makes it a dark and naughty fragrance, along with the addition of Fair Trade vanilla absolute to sweeten it up! This magnificent concoction lingers on the skin for a few hours, and I always believe that this is a what a Disney villain would smell like… is that weird?

After showering, I could feel the effects of the oils working on my skin almost immediately after rinsing it off. My skin felt noticeably smoother and remained this way until I woke up the next morning! I may have to stock up on this one…

LORD OF MISRULE BATH BALLISTIC: Like bathing in a cauldron full of marvellous potions!
Lord-of-Misrule

IMG_0340

I couldn’t stop staring at this masterpiece forming before my eyes…

LUSH SAYS: “Featuring Fair Trade vanilla absolute, the world’s first Fair Trade absolute, mixed with spicy black pepper oil and soothing patchouli.  The crown shape around the ballistic is the party hat that the tradition of the Lord of Misrule inspired centuries ago. Popping candy represents the party atmosphere that he would have created during his rule over a period of festive merriment.”

Well Bubble bubble toil and trouble!
Inspired by the ruler of the Pagan Feast of Fools, Lush claims that the bath bomb brought mischievous revelry to the user’s bathing.
Filled with the same patchouli, black pepper and vanilla scents, I couldn’t wait to throw this one in the bathtub, as well as lather myself with the shower scream for a double dose of this product!

As it begins to froth away in the water, I became hypnotised by the elf green, silver and bright pink swirls emerging from the bomb as it began to spin!
And what was even more magical, once the swirls disappeared, a pure dark blue night sky appeared – including subtle silver glitter to create the stars!

I couldn’t stop deeply inhaling as the scent continued to linger in the bath and it’s definitely not for those who want something subtle! This fragrance comes at you with all it’s might and stays on you for a very long period of time. I’m not complaining as I feel I was getting my money’s worth!

My skin felt incredibly soft afterwards, as I would expect a strong bath bomb to dry or irritate the skin. How wrong I was! I felt cleansed from top to toe after laying in this product for about half an hour. Yes, I’m one of those people who spends a long time in the bath until my fingers turn to prunes…

SANTA BABY LIP TINT: A matte lip stain to feel merry and bright!
IMG_0276

LUSH SAYS: “A Christmassy red lip tint made with cherries and dates for sweet, kissable lips. Made with Fair Trade shea butter and nourishing carrot oil to soften and moisturise, and a cinammon-sweet, cola-flavoured taste of Christmas, Santa will be hurrying down the chimney tonight.”

Santa Baby is a bright red, festive, shea butter and cola scented lip tint to give a kissable, matte effect so it doesn’t look too thick or glossy. The cinnamon is very subtle in this one and not overpowering.

You only need a small amount but feel free to put on more layers to add a bolder colour!
However, even though it says that it contains nourishing shea butter, my lips still dried out very quickly, so I had to apply some lip balm afterwards as this product doesn’t really moisturise the lips.
I naturally suffer from dry lips anyway therefore this may differ to other users, so don’t be put off!

On a good note, the colour lasts for absolutely ages, therefore it really does stain the lips, along with the finger I used to apply it with… !

GREASE LIGHTNING SPOT TREATMENT: Zap those spots away and reduce redness within hours.
IMG_0261
LUSH SAYS: “Grease Lightning dries up spots and makes them disappear, not quite at the speed of light,  but pretty quickly.  We all quickly dab on a bit of transparent gel at the first feeling of impending spottiness. You can feel the toning witch hazel working at once. It’s for people with seriously bad skin, too; we make it with really beautiful natural ingredients so you can use it all the time.”

This is something I like to use after toning my skin with the Tea Tree Water on the little annoying red bits!
Most of my teenage life (I’m now 24) I’ve been desperate for a clear complexion, and I’ve used every mainstream harsh product under the sun. I soon realised I was being too hard on my skin and scrubbing away all the important skin sebum.
That’s when I knew I had to turn to Lush for less chemicals and more care!

This is an organic option so I felt better for using it already as my skin is rather sensitive.
This is more for the occasional pimples rather than hardcore acne, in which case you should see a dermatologist about that…

It’s not the miracle of all miracles, but you can still feel it working and it doesn’t sting. The one thing I would complain about it is the way it dispenses. Too much comes out at once so you end up getting too much of the product for one breakout… Even if you do try and apply it all on one part of your face, your skin ends up getting a bit flakey because of how much you put on.

Apart from those little negs, the product still does the job and makes you feel better for using organic ingredients! It even makes it easier to squeeze the pesky spot. I wouldn’t recommend that however…

THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS REUSABLE BUBBLE BAR: Fill your bath with the warm, traditional spicy scents that makes you want to drink mulled wine by the fireplace.
IMG_0268

LUSH SAYS: “Foam alone? Stir up a whole lot of Christmas magic with this warming cinnamon stick. It’s packed with punchy cinnamon leaf and fair trade organic clove to warm up the skin while fast forwarding you straight into the festive season! Treat Grinch-like moments by holding this spicy bubble wand under running water and slipping into a blanket of hot, almond bubbles.”

I’m SO glad I can use this again! Wow, it’s such a spicy, sensual, warming Christmas treat filled with cinnamon, orange, clove and plenty of glitter!
I kind of wish I was in cold weather now just so I can enjoy this bath even more, as it’s too hot for constant baths whilst I’m Down Under! I still can’t resist a nice hot bath…

I love that it’s connected to a cinnamon stick too! Looks so much better than being connected to a little wooden lollypop stick. It allows it to look like a natural and traditional item you would find in a Christmas market.

Once I ran the product under the tap, the water started to turn a sunset orange and the soothing aromas started filling the bathroom. This products didn’t really create as much bubble as say, The Comforter Bubble Bar, but it still allowed my skin to feel moisturised.

Feel free to break it up too and be generous with it, as it creates more bubbles and a stronger fragrance so it really creates an indulging bathtime.
I would definitely recommend drinking some mulled wine in the bath whilst using this beaut, along with listening to old Christmas songs in the background!

PORRIDGE SOAP: My breakfast in a bar!
IMG_0264

LUSH SAYS: “Start the day the Goldilocks way with a helping or three of porridge oats. Ideal for sensitive skin; irresistible to everyone else. Oats are soothing for the skin and will gently exfoliate, while orange juice is refreshing and naturally toning. Rise and shine with some delicious porridge.”

I have to keep stopping myself from putting this soap in my mouth.

I was skeptical about using a ‘soap’ on my dry, sensitive skin, but this soap doesn’t seem as strong as much as regular soaps, and seems very gentle.

When it melts it has a milky, creamy consistency to it, and leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturised.

I don’t usually use hard soaps to wash myself with. But this one really does have a great effect on my skin, and I don’t need a body puff to use it either, as the oats inside the soap are already there to exfoliate the skin. However, they are a slight nuisance as they leave a mess in the shower. It’s no huge bother rinsing them away because I know oats are great for scrubbing sensitive skin.

It smells beautifully sweet, like porridge with plenty of sugar in! Great exfoliation as well as a moisturiser for my scaly dry legs!

SHOOT FOR THE STARS BATH BOMB: Like you’re bathing in a galaxy far far away!
IMG_0260

LUSH SAYS:Stay very still to watch the swirling colours of the night sky dazzle in your bath water. As the calming blanket of shimmering midnight blue unfolds, Brazilian orange and bergamot oils take your skin to heaven and your mood rocketing up to the stars.”

I really liked this bath bomb! It smells like one of my old school favourites Honey I washed the Kids soap, more so than an orange smell like it suggests. It was a mesmerising display in the bath, and it couldn’t stop spinning!

As the bomb rapidly spins, colours of blue and yellow start to fill the tub, followed by vibrant, bubbly, extra frothy pink stripes, and then little stars shooting out of the product! (Hence the name.)

The overall colour of the bath is left slightly dull grey/green after the colours disappear however. But the aromas of HIWTK remain, which takes me way back to when I was 13 years old, and that particular soap was my first choice!

SALT AND PEPPERMINT BARK: So much refreshment in one bar!

LUSH SAYS: Inspired by the American sweet treat of peppermint bark, over half of this solid bar is made of salt, for some serious seasonal scrubbing. Cocoa butter and capuacu butter will soften the skin whilst its pepperminty fragrance uplifts and helps clear the mind during the festive frenzy.”

I shouldn’t have used this before bed…As it woke me up because of the peppermint scent and cooling sensation on the body!

So yes it’s a great one for the mornings, and it definitely exfoliates really well, without being as harsh as let’s say – Sugar Scrub. My skin feels soft to the touch afterwards, but this one disintegrates quicker than a soap – so I reckon this one will last about 10 washes.

It did clear the mind and help me unwind before bed, so this one can still be used at any time! It really is a refreshingly sweet product, but my personal preference is still Buffy Body Bar.

HOLLY GO LIGHTLY BUBBLE BAR:

LUSH SAYS: “A generously sized pudding to wrap yourself up in a comforting Christmas blanket  of Lime Oil, Patchouli Oil and Cinnamon Leaf Oil. Its festive spice fragrance is like bathing in a hot toddy, perfect for getting you in the Christmas spirit.”

This one is a warming, festive little gem! It’s slightly sweeter than The Magic of Christmas, with a baked smell, like bathing in the scent of a cinnamon christmas pudding! I just needed a mulled wine next to me in the tub and it would have been perfect! I had a glass of red wine instead, that still did the trick..

The silver glitter is very subtle, unlike the amazingly bright, luminous green colour it makes in the water!

I reckon it’ll last me around five baths, but it all depends on how much you use! I broke up a little chunk which fitted nicely in the palm of my hand.

It’s a HUGE chunky bubble bar, a similar size to The Comforter. It’s a MUST for a spicy, festive, elf-green bath!
